As part of the new visual identity of Nordiska Museet – designed by Bold Scandinavia – we did a bespoke display typeface and a logotype, inspired by original drawings and engravings found in the museum building. Founded in 1873, Nordiska Museet is Sweden’s largest cultural history museum, with over 1.5 million objects in its collection and five visitor destinations. The new identity of the museum is anchored in the museum’s rich cultural heritage, with each building block of the identity pulled from the building’s imposing architecture and rich graphic archives.
Playtype is a type foundry situated in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. For more than twenty years we have been creating retail and custom-made typefaces for global businesses. With the talents of type designer and typographer Jonas Hecksher leading the way, we are dedicated to creating fonts that have something to say. Ones that capture voice, personality and imagination, while altering perception of a brand or product. With a distinctive focus on usable typography, our goal is to create type that balances both aesthetical astuteness and function.
