"Village in the City" is my ongoing photography project. This is the first village I have documented, named "Gangxia Village" in Shenzhen. Amidst China's rapid urbanization, due to economic and time considerations, urban development often opts to bypass rural areas, resulting in a unique sight of cities enveloping villages. Currently, this phenomenon is slowly fading as villages become homogenized and vanish with each wave of development. The original way of life has ceased to exist, and the impoverished residents who once lived there have vanished without a trace.
