Songs are composed of the bass line, harmony, percussion, and melody. Ravi Shankar contributed his own unique melodies to the world of music, a defining master of his classical art form. While listening to their music, I created typographic compositions that utilized hierarchy, line, and form in order to reflect his musical styles and personal struggles. Shankar’s music, a classical Indian style comprised of multiple forms and improvisational note combinations, was personified through repetition and use of 10 and 16 and the overlay of numerous parts.
